TRULY NOLEN: The Truly Outrageous Mouse Limo

TrulyNolen500

Tucson-based Truly Nolen of America is one of the largest family owned pest control companies in the United States. Founded in limotail 1938, Truly Nolen has 69 branch offices in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and Utah. The company also has independently owned and operated franchises in an ever-growing number of territories including California, Florida, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas as well as Puerto Rico.

What truly sets Truly Nolen apart from the competition is its whimsical use of vehicles, including the mouse limo, cars and trucks for brand recognition and marketing.

According to the Truly Nolen website:  “Our trademark yellow mouse cars and yellow trucks have helped identify Truly Nolen as the pest control company with a sense of humor and a taste for fun. These highly visible moving billboards have been around since 1961 and are only one of the many things that give Truly Nolen its distinctive flair.”1998_mousecar

This just in… the original release from 2004 when the mouse limo was born. Anyone remember what gas cost in 2004?

Truly Nolen Adds One-of-a-Kind Volkswagen Limousine To its Fleet of Yellow Mouse Cars
Hollywood, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2004) – For more than four decades, Truly Nolen Pest Control’s fleet of yellow mouse cars has been turning heads and creating smiles as the moving billboards roll down the highway.
Soon motorists will be scratching their heads in disbelief when they see the latest addition – a custom-made Volkswagen limousine, complete with Truly Nolen’s trademark mouse ears and painted-on whiskers.
“We nicknamed the car “Mighty Mouse,” says Rick Vincent, sales manager of Orlando’s Legendary Coachworks, the Winter Garden, Florida company that spent months creating this unique car. “It will certainly draw a crowd.”

Designed to be used for special events, parades and parties, Truly Nolen’s mouse car limousine is a four-door Volkswagen Beetle complete with a flat-screen television and a full bar. It is almost twice the size of a regular Volkswagen and can seat additional passengers in a separate passenger compartment.

Perhaps its greatest value, however, will be as a head turner, catching the eyes of curious motorists who have never seen anything like it before.

“Our trademark yellow mouse cars and yellow trucks have helped identify Truly Nolen as the pest control company with a sense of humor for many years,” says the company’s president, Scott Nolen. “This first ever mouse car limousine will be a great marketing tool for us and continue to give Truly Nolen a distinctive flair.”

A massive undertaking, the mouse car limo provided a challenge for Tony and Gaye Gonzalez, owners of Legendary Coachworks, which has built hundreds of limousines for celebrities and sports stars.
Starting with a brand new turbo-charged silver VW bug, the team of craftsmen had to cut the car and build a whole new frame. Adding to the challenge was the round shape of the Volkswagen Beetle, which made making a new set of doors for the limousine even more difficult.
Once built, the limo was painted the trademark Truly Nolen yellow before ears and whiskers were added.

Vincent said that the mouse car limousine became quite a conversation piece among those who saw it.

“It’s quite the little bug,” he said.
