When the going gets tough, the tough get innovative.
During an economic downturn, corporate refugees and newly-laid off professionals are looking for new opportunities to maximize their energy, ambition, talent and, in many cases, severance packages. Many will look to franchise ownership as a way to have greater control over their own careers and build a successful business.
At the same time, successful business owners will look to franchising as an efficient way to expand their established and successful businesses. These new franchisors will share their expertise, systems, procedures, training, trademarks and ongoing support programs with individuals looking to own their own businesses in exchange (generally) for an upfront franchise fee and an ongoing percentage of gross sales. With the right combination of franchisor and franchisee, and franchise concept, franchising can provide the ultimate win-win relationship.
TopNewFranchises.com is searching for the best of the new and emerging franchise concepts to highlight and promote throughout 2009. If you know of a great new (franchised within the last 5 years) franchise or license opportunity, or an innovative small or regional franchise company (fewer than 50 locations), please nominate them by sending an email with contact info and/or company website to info[at]topnewfranchises.com. Self-nominations are encouraged.
Here are some of the new concepts that have been nominated or mentioned so far:

Jumping J-Jays is a failing Franchise in Australia with most of the Franchisees having already shut down due to a number of factors.
1 You work incredibly long hours ie 5 am to 1 am the following day on occasions for a very poor return.
2 No one makes any real money because Jumping J-Jays take over 40% of turnover and factor in things like Moon Walks having to be replaced at very high prices at Jumping J-Jays option and being unable to recover any money by selling them.
3 Jumping J-Jays will not tell you that you have to do an awful lot more marketing than they tell you before you sign and some of it could will be against the law. If you don’t do it you will lose your business illegal or not.
4 Jumping J-Jays style of management as has been experienced in Australia can be repugnant to say the least. Most people cite this as one of major reasons they closed the doors after factoring in that they were never likely to see a return on their money.
Beware, the majority of Franchisees would rate this business as the worst decision they have made in their lives setting them back to where they were as teenagers, over half of the Franchises have closed down over the last 18 months. Would you risk that?

abe, AN a6 is an AUDI, a pickup is american term for ute, TAFE is a techinal college, in america they have none so the american franchisee would not have an clue what this meant,, the structure is very different in the USA, as newton is trying to expaND, THE FEE STRUCTURE IS MUCH CHEAPER, REMEMBER THE FORUM DISCUSSION on tips? for installers
this doesnt alleviate the disarsterious account for whats happening in australia, new zealand now trade as jumping jims, last count there were 22 franchisee,s left in australia, not bad from 60 over 2 yrs ago, were will this free fall end of franchisee,s exiting the system,?i cannot foresee jjays reducing fee,s to retain franchisee,s as expansion into USA is not cheap, just look at the child learning centres, gone just about broke, trying to chase the big carrot,

If Jumping J-Jays was such a great franchise opportunity why are they falling like flies in Australia? Why do they only have 2 franchisee’s in the U.S. after two plus years in business? I suggest anyone looking at this type of business do some serious due diligence before moving forward.
Why would they be giving away free franchise’s in Australia if it was such a great business? Doesn’t this make you wonder? Gut instinct tells me- STAY AWAY. They claim to have franchise’s in places like Hollywood, Ca. yet when you call they have NO service in that area. Same goes for the Houston area as well. VERY MISLEADING.

Having watched the rise and fall of jumping j jays in Australia and New Zealand one would need to be very wary and do a huge amount of research if entering into any transaction with the current management/owners. Their ethics need questioning and it would appear that the franchise values seem to fall rather than rise over time. Each franchisee seems to do a hell of a lot of work for very little return. Good luck if you decide to go ahead, maybe you can do well where many have failed.
