Not long ago, everyone loved Netflix. But now it seems like the company is falling apart. First, Netflix quietly tried to raise their prices — but the Netflix price change resulted in many angry customers. The latest Netflix news has their DVD division separating into a new company called Qwikster.
Qwikster.com is already up and running. On the website, it says “Launching soon. Go start popping the popcorn.” It also lists it as “Qwikster, a Netflix company”.
Netflix got famous for its DVD distribution business. However, it now appears as if Netflix believes that their future is in their streaming content. Could this separation eventually lead to the closing of the DVD division? That’s how I see it ending.
Along with the name change announcement, the Netflix CEO announced that his company apologizes for the way they handled the price increase. Although, after listening to the response to the apology, it may end up being too little, too late.
