Online Startups: How to Be Seen

Within the last 24 hours, there were dozens of startup online businesses launched. With more and more people trying to get their slice of the online pie, the competition is fierce. How do you go about getting your online startup noticed by the rest of the internet? It definitely takes patience and perseverance but here are five tips to get your startup business headed in the right direction:

5. Social Networking. It seems like every new venture in the business world has an accompanying Facebook, MySpace and Twitter account. And for good reason. It’s a good and oftentimes free way to get your online startup noticed.

4. Social Bookmarking. If you want to make a splash online, social bookmarking sites can help you do that … in a hurry. If you can get noticed on a site like Digg, you’ll get more traffic than you’ll know what to do with.

3. Videos. YouTube is more than just a place to watch funny videos. Make a video explaining your startup business and the appeal of your product and/or services to the outside world and take advantage of YouTube’s gigantic community.

2. Traditional Online Advertising. Don’t forget about traditional online advertising. Google Adwords is a good place to start. Also look for sites that offer advertising that fit in your startup’s niche.

1. The Blogosphere. The blogging world is a powerful beast. Make sure your startup has a blog that is updated frequently. Also spread the news of your site throughout the blogosphere by emailing bloggers and commenting on blogs.

With the advent of social media, it is increasingly important to ensure that you have a “virtual footprint”. Most business owners – especially start-ups – where several hats sometimes simultaneously! A Virtual Assistant can assist you in making your virtual presence known – allowing you to focus on other aspects of your business. Why not let a VA assist you in launching your online presence? You can find several qualified individuals at VAnetworking.com. Let your presence be known!

I definitely agree with Youtube. It’s a great place to showcase a variety of products or methods. You can walk a user through your websibe, put together a how-to video that showcases your product, or even just put together news clips that work to show why your service is invaluable.
