InformationWeek released their first Startup 50, a list of the top 50 startup tech companies. According to the InformationWeek article, these startups “represent some of the newest ideas and technologies that will help companies become more efficient and productive.”
An interesting statistic is that the startups on the Startup 50 combined to receive more than $600 million in venture capital. Here’s a list of the startups that received the most money on their top 50 list:
Palo Alto Networks – Application-aware firewalls – $64 million
Ocarina Networks – Storage optimization – $31 million
Aster Data Systems – Data warehousing – $27 million
Pentaho – Open source BI software – $25 million
Aerohive Networks – WLAN access points – $24 million
Pano Logic – Desktop virtualization – $24 million
Virtual Computer – PC life-cycle management – $21 million
FireEye – Web malware security – $21 million
Sailpoint Technologies – Identity management software – $20.5 million
Agito Networks – Fixed-mobile convergence – $20 million
Digital Reef – Information management – $20 million
