Happy Employees Make Better Beer

Most nights before bed, I click on SportsCenter to see how my beloved Milwaukee Brewers are doing. They’re not as good as I’d like them to be, thanks for asking. :)

The other night there was a 30 second ad that caught my eye, from famous beer maker Samuel Adams.

Watch the :30 video.

Sure, it’s advertising, but it’s good advertising in my opinion. It’s all about making your employees happy, finding passionate employees who love your mission, your vision, and your values. Happy employees make better beer…and they make your company better.

Every year Fortune magazine comes out with 100 best companies to work for, based on actual employee survey results. It’s shown that these companies have happier employees…and also are more profitable companies than those who are not on the list.

Coincidence?

Or do you really believe happier employees make better beer, more profitable companies, and are downright better places to be than places where employees are less happy?

And if you believe this premise, what are you doing to make your place somewhere folks can share their passion, their love, their energy, and their beer?

Wow Phil, we couldn’t have said this better ourselves! We’ve written a site full of related posts, but perhaps the most relevant is this one:

    http://www.the-happy-manager.com/happy-company.html

That article not only summarizes the 12 questions Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman ask, regarding a happy workplace. It also contains two other excellent thought provokers, one from Hal Rosenbluth and one from Tom Peters.

Happiness at work is important, it is achievable, and it is worthwhile. We’ve always thought one of the most critical elements in facilitating that happiness is the work of the manager.

    Thanks for a great post.
