Thanks for your comments, Mark! We do complain about the cost of gas, and then do nothing to modify our habits. My husband has started taking the bus to school, and I’ve been practicing major trip consolidation lately. But, as always, we could do even more.
However, in order to make a significant change in the cost of gas, there has to be a viable alternative to compete with it. Unfortunately, we complain that there’s no alternative, and then we don’t support the development of technologies that could provide that alternative. The lion’s share of government subsidies still go to Big Oil, giving oil companies little incentive to change.
Do you think we could lower the price of gasoline if we all cut our driving back just a little (or perhaps left the Hummers on the lot for now)?
That’s a real hungry pig! Our automobiles!!! Yet, we bit** and bit** but don’t do anything about it.
Thanks for dropping by my place :)
