No, not Ned Flanders. Scott N. Flanders has been named the new Playboy CEO.
(No word yet if his middle name is Ned, however it’s safe to assume he’s not related to the Simpsons’ character.)
Scott N. Flanders has a serious job ahead of him. Playboy Enterprises, Inc. has been losing money and many industry experts believe that Playboy may soon be forced to sell if their business model can’t be repaired.
Flanders, who comes from Freedom Communications where he was the President and CEO, sounds to be excited about the opportunity.
“The Playboy brand represents enormous opportunity,” says Flanders. “My goal is to maximize the power of the brand in order to create additional value for Playboy’s customers, employees and shareholders.”
For Flanders to be able to turn around Playboy, he’ll likely first have to decide what to do with the Playboy magazine. The publication simply isn’t near the asset it was just a few years ago.
Additionally, Flanders will have to figure out how to allow Playboy to create more money on the internet and off its brand recognition.
