If you’ve ever used Pandora.com to help find new music you may enjoy, you know of its power. Within a few clicks, you can find music that you love that you would have never otherwise found without their service. BookLamp.org utilizes a similar concept, however instead of music their specialty is books.
By using BookLamp.org, you can find books based on a number of different variables using other books you have enjoyed as a foundation. For example, if you like Book X but you want to find a different book that is longer in length and has more action, BookLamp.org can use that information and help you locate such a book.
While you can register on the website to try the service, post on their forums and request books to be added to the database, BookLamp.org is very much in its beta phase. In fact, they are taking suggestions about which way they should proceed in their business. Should they make it an open source project? Should they try to get help from a venture capitalist? Should they partner with an existing company? By giving your opinion, you can help them figure out what they should do in their step.
You may have first heard of BookLamp.org from the website called CanGoogleHearMe.com. News media from around the world focused on CanGoogleHearMe.com as Aaron Stanton chronicled his adventure of going to Google headquarters and trying to force Google to hear his idea. The idea he wanted Google to hear eventually became BookLamp.org.
We will try to get an interview with Aaron or someone else from BookLamp.org in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
