After vandals severed underground fiber cables in the Californian cities of San Jose and San Carlos on Thursday, AT&T announced a reward totaling $100,000 for information that leads to the arrest and eventual conviction of the people responsible for the illegal acts. The severing of the cables has caused thousands of AT&T customers to be without both phone and internet in those two cities in California and in surrounding areas.

The vandalism in San Jose occurred near the intersection of Blossom Hill Road and Monterey Highway, while the vandalism in San Carlos took place near the intersection of Varian Road and Old County Road. AT&T vowed to prosecute the vandals to the full extent of both state and federal laws.
Not only were landlines disrupted, cell phones were also affected. Authorities worry that those needing 911 assistance will not be able to make the necessary phone call.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 408-947-STOP. Alternatively, they may call the police department in San Jose (408-277-4161) or the police department in San Carlos (650-802-4423).

I live in Bangladesh and quite a few times such incidents of vandalism occurred in our country. Since I am a full time blogger, it becomes very difficult for me to work when there is no internet. It is really a serious crisis. I hope this problem ends as soon as possible.
