Are You In The Right Job?

It’s always good to take the time every couple of years to check in with yourself to make sure that you are in the right field and still doing a job that you enjoy.

  • Do you still go home with a sense of satisfaction after working?
  • Does your job allow you to do what you do best every day?
  • Is the culture of the organization in line with your value system and philosophy?

Any of these areas can be problematic from causing you to under-perform to a general bad feelings about your job and/or coworkers.

I found this interesting Career Planner Quiz after it was discussed on my local news the other day. It’s free to try and I was actually kind of surprised at how on-point it was about me. Here are my results.

People with Blue interests like activities that allow them to be creative. This can be through more traditional visual arts, writing or musical pursuits although not limited to these. The creativity is often expressed in thinking of new ideas or strategies that can have a broad range of applications. Blue interests often like thinking about the future and planning for long term benefits. Hobbies include: performing or listening to music, attending theater, story telling, journaling, decorative arts, painting. Career choice often are: Editor, Journalist, Teacher, Strategic Planner, Consultant, Performing Arts, Marketing, Communications, Research and Development.

People with Red strengths are really good at making quick decisions and then jumping to action. They are objective about people and good at mobilizing teams to get the job done. They are logical when solving problems and work well in high pressure situations. They are friendly when they interact with others while staying focused on the business at hand.

After you take the Career Planner Quiz be sure to come back and tell us if your results seem to be in-line with how you see yourself, and the job you are currently working.
