Off to Sydney this afternoon for the two day ad:tech conference. I have the good fortune to be on a panel with some people I have great respect for and who, individually and collectively, have lots of knowledge and practical experience in the field of business blogging, Ross Dawson (in the chair), Mark Jones and Fred Schebesta.
The panel, on Blogs as a Marketing Tool, is to be chaired by Ross Dawson, who – following a bit of a telephonic brainstorming session we had – produced an outline, with only five slides (5 – is this a record for presentation-slide economy?). Actually, as you will see from the outline detail, we’re being fairly ambitious for a single panel session but we are hoping the attending advertising types will get a good, current picture of issues around blogging and marketing.
As well as the panel session, the keynotes and the other sessions, I’m looking forward to meeting face to face, for the first time, a couple of colleagues who are heavy hitters in the business blogging world, Rick Bruner, who owns the Business Blog Consulting site where I post from time to time (not enough lately!) and Aussie blogging legend Darren Rowse of Problogger.net fame and co-owner of the b5media network of which this blog is part.
The Sydney Webloggers Meetup group has re-scheduled its Feb gathering to tomorrow night so there’s a bit of a gathering, at the Arthouse Hotel, 275 Pitt St, at 7pm.
So all in all I’m expecting to meet lots of interesting people and have some good stuff to post about here, but as I’m not taking a laptop to schlep all around Sydney on hot summer days, to pubs (even if they are called ‘Arthouse’), etc, I won’t be blogging live from the event. Darren might be, so watch his problogger.net for interesting info.
