Thought I’d get a little more personal and divulge the top 5 wordpress plugins I use across my sites and why I like them so much…
- Instant Upgrade – One of the biggest pains of managing your own Wordpress website (and a large benefit of being in a blog network and having them manage it for you) is having to update. After setting up this plugin you are all set up for one click upgrades whenever you want.
- Contact Form ][ – Spammers finding and exploiting your email address is a recurring problem not to mention the pain of having to write your email in uninteligible ways just to avoid bots. This plugin gives your readers an easy way to get in touch while keeping spammers at bay.
- Sitemap Generator – With search engines now accepting more general sitemaps this plugin has to make the cut for my top 5. Offering the ability to tweak output and customize to your liking, this plugin is a must have. You can find a sample sitemap here.
- Event Calendar -If you run a blog or website where dates of upcoming events are vital this plugin deliver. Event Calendar offers widget support for your calendar display needs. Sample output from this plugin can be found on the right sidebar.
- Share This – Rounding out the top 5 is the share this plugin which offers readers tons of social bookmarking links without all of the clutter. A must have for social bookmarking junkies.

What a great concept for a plugin, that Instant Upgrade! I’ll definitely try it out. As much as I appreciate the powers that be who make WP so great, it is indeed a pain to upgrade.
Have you used it yourself? I’ll be sure to check it out.

Thanks for the great plugin suggestions. I’m still new to blogging, and thought I’d figured out what to get, but I hadn’t heard of these. I’ll get most of them very soon.

Yeah Ken I have used it and it works like a charm. As soon I read of a wordpress update I just click and it’s done. Be careful on major wordpress releases as upgrading might affect your plugins or theme. Just check them out to see if updates are needed and you’re all set.

Very nice! I am the writer of “Top 5 things to do in Istanbul” This was my first group activity, but i liked it very much.
http://meeting-continents.blogspot.com/2007/05/top-5-things-to-do-in-istanbul.html
Have you ever been to Istanbul which links east to west, and west to east like a weblink. Istanbul played such a critical role in the world politics and culture throughout the history.
Now i have a dream i would like to share with you and Darren Rowse. All the Probloggers should meet at Istanbul and join the 29th edition of the Eurasia Marathon on Sunday 28th of October, 2007.
Let’s meet where the continents meet : As the Istanbul Eurasia Marathon starts from the Anatolian side while taking the runners to the most beautiful spots of town, signing its name under a touristic attraction as well. The Bosphorus is one of the most beautiful spots on the world and as you run through it, history of the centuries run with you on the streets.
I joined the 28th Intercontinental Istanbul EurAsia Marathon on 5th of November, 2006 together with my friends, Joe and Suat San. We enjoyed the wonderful Bosphorus, and beautiful streets of Istanbul on a cold but sunny Sunday morning. The slogan for last year’s marathon was “let’s run for a non-smoking world”.
this was my blog post for last year’s marathon:
http://meeting-continents.blogspot.com/2006/12/intercontinental-eurasia-marathon.html
I would be happy to invite you to the 29th Intercontinental Istanbul Eurasia Marathon, the only marathon to run between two continents – Europe and Asia. Istanbul is one of the oldest settlements on the world. What about participating in the 29th EurAsia Marathon in 2007 which takes place in the most beautiful places of a wonderful city that has been the capital of three empires ?
You may find details about the marathon here:

Please let me know if you are interested.
Have a nice day!
