25 Websites We Can't Live Without from Time.com

time.bmpOn Monday, Time.com published an article called “25 Sites We Can’t Live Without.”  It’s a comprehensive list including a review of each site that made the cut.  In short, the winners (in alphabetical order) are:

  1. Amazon.com
  2. BBC.co.uk
  3. Citysearch.com
  4. Craigslist.org
  5. Del.icio.us
  6. Digg.com
  7. eBay.com
  8. Facebook.com
  9. FactCheck.org
  10. Flickr.com
  11. Google.com
  12. HowStuffWorks.com
  13. The Internet Movie Database (IMDB)
  14. iTunes
  15. Kayak.com
  16. NationalGeographic.com
  17. Netflix.com
  18. SimpleWeather.com
  19. Technorati.com
  20. TMZ.com
  21. USA.gov
  22. TelevisionWithoutPity.com
  23. WebMD.com
  24. Wikipedia.org
  25. Yahoo.com

I think this is an interesting list as not only are the sites and their utilities important to users, but several of these brands have also become an integral way of life for tech-savvy people.  However, I’m not sure if this list is appropriate for all demographic groups.  For example, people who don’t enjoy reading blogs or feel comfortable in the blogosphere can probably cross several of those sites off their personal lists of sites they can’t live without, but all-in-all, I think this list from Time is a good one.

It’s also interesting that several of the sites are fairly new to the internet.  For example, Facebook.com has only recently grown significantly in popularity.  I also find it interesting that only one real news site, BBC.co.uk, made the list, and it’s not even a U.S. site.

I did the math and I only use 56% (14) of the sites on this list.  On a regular basis, I only use 40% (10) of the sites on the list.  What do you think?  Do you use these sites?  Can you think of any sites that should have been included on this list but were not?  Should any sites on the list be removed?  Leave a comment and let Brandcurve’s readers hear your opinion.

Sites I use that are on the list (the stars are the once I use the most)
    *Amazon.com
    Del.icio.us
    *Facebook.com
    *Flickr.com
    *Google.com
    *The Internet Movie Database (IMDB)
    iTunes
    *Netflix.com
    Technorati.com
    Wikipedia.org
    Yahoo.com

It’s interesting that Facebook is on their list, but not MySpace

I don’t know if anything else should be added – many sites I visit, while essential to me, aren’t going to be essential to the general populace (starwars.com and startrek.com, for example.)
