Windows 7 Pricing

It is clear that Windows 7 is going to be more expensive than Windows Vista and Dell is one of the early vendors who have already raised a flag on this saying that it would be difficult to sell PCs with expensive Windows 7 given the economic state.

Dell already made announcements about the price hike and to prevent the continuous negative reaction, Microsoft is planning to release the pricing model by mid-June of this year. This is a few months ahead of the supposedly release of Windows 7. If Windows 7 is indeed pricier than Windows Vista, we may expect more adoption from the beleaguered operating system. Windows Vista Service Pack 2 is on it’s way and there might be Windows SP3 since Microsoft plans to extend the support of the operating system until 2012. This move, could probably breathe new life to Vista.

I don’t think Microsoft can raise the price of Windows 7 far off from Vista. They should give huge discounts to owners of Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise or even Ultimate.
