The U.S. Army does not plan to wait for Windows 7 and as such they are instead moving to Windows Vista. The army is scheduled to move to Windows Vista by the end of the year. Aside from Windows Vista, they are also planning to move from Office 2003 to Office 2007.
There you go, I am really pissed off at colleagues who have not yet moved to Office 2007 and continuously ask me to convert the files I send them. Not all office applications are converted successfully by the Office converter especially spreadsheets saves as binary. While most of us are going the productive route, these guys at Office 2003 impedes you with their laziness of installing a new Office application.
Currently, 44,000 of it’s computers are in Vista and the rest of the 744,000 PCs have to be upgraded to the Vista. The army says that it is easier to move to Windows 7 from Vista than XP to Windows 7. I agree.

I dont think they are counting the computers in Iraq. The computers here are old Dell D800′s and most dont have more than 512MB of ram. There is no way the Army is switching 100% to Vista by the end of the year. Just isn’t happening.
