Ionut Alex Chitu posts an great review of the new iGoogle. You really should try it for yourself. Here’s the trick to unlock the new features:
1) Go to http://google.com/ig
2) Enter this in your address bar to get the new iGoogle:
javascript:_dlsetp(‘v2=1′);
3) Enter this in your address bar to get back the old iGoogle:
javascript:_dlsetp(‘v2=0′);
Gmail and RSS look especially sweet in the new iGoogle. You get a full Gmail interface from within iGoogle, and RSS feeds appear as they would in Google Reader.
It’s not quite ready for primetime yet; Google Reader and Google Calendar don’t get full interfaces. Switching between widgets in different tabs is also a bit slow, as iGoogle tries to load the whole tab before loading the widget. Feed titles in the sidebar also have a strange tendency to constantly reload.
Nevertheless, I can’t wait for this new iGoogle to work out its kinks and go public. A richer Ajax homepage means less browser tabs to juggle.

I am SO displeased with the new iGoogle. It’s NOT as clean looking as the former iGoogle, and even the bugs in the GMAIL application are not worked out. This is SOOOOOO unlike Google to release something with more kinks in it than a new Windows release. Give me back my OLD iGoogle!
Did you write “new iGoogle ” enough times?
Sorry, this didn’t work for me on Firefox 3.
Even if this really works, there’s an easier/better way than mucking around with javascript.
