Symantec: No Viruses for OS X

The After Mac is reporting this morning about a Symantec blog entry that claims there are no file infecting viruses for OS X. As Juan points out, there is the OX.Leap.A worm, but then Symantec dodges that bullet by pointing out that it’s a worm and not a virus. I think to the average home user, they are the same thing and playing games of semantics with computer security is dangerous.

There is the point that Macs are far safer than PCs when it comes to viruses, and while this is true, any system that operates on 1s and 0s can be affected by 1s and 0s. In other words, whether you use PCs, Macs or even Linux systems – you can be affected by viruses.
