Throw away those old passe DVD players with small screens if it does not even have DivX support. Sony has jumped onto the Divx foray with the cool looking Sony D-VE7000S DVD Walkman Player. Too bad it weighs almost two pounds and has only a short 3 hour battery time.
According to Sony, the D-VE7000S is compatible with regular DVDs, DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs, DVD+R Read and DVD+RW media. The firm did not provide specifics on video formats are supported by the device and also did not say which versions of Divx are supported. However, besides video, the player can also handle CD and MP3 audio playback (regular CDs, CD-R, CD-RW) and is able to display JPEG images on its 7″ screen. According to Sony’s website, the player is available now for $200. Higher-quality earphones and headphones are available for $50 and $100.

It’s cool looking, but it really needs to have a multi-media card reader to make up for the weight and short battery life.
