Sapporo Minus the Beer and Ramen

This is the second post of Ironic Gamer Goes to Japan series.

You can get to Hokkaido by air, land or sea. I travelled to Hokkaido by air because I’m pressed for time and it’s the fastest means of transport. So from Tokyo Haneda Airport to New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Hokkaido, takes only around 1.5 hours. In Japan domestic flights, don’t expect meals to be served but drinks will be provided. To add, JAL’s air stewardesses or attendants are nice and friendly, they provide great service even though you don’t know what they are talking (most of the time, they speak Japanese unless you speak to them in English and they will reciprocate in English).

My first stop was at Sapporo. Sapporo is Japan’s fifth largest city, largest city in north of Japan and Hokkaido’s capital. You may have known Sapporo for its beer (Sapporo beer) and ramen. However, I’m not going to highlight the beer or ramen in this series. You can expect something else (clue: it’s sweet) from Sapporo to be introduced in the next few posts.

At Haneda Airport, Tokyo. Haneda Airport handles domestic flights in Japan. I got some time before my flight to Sapporo so I decided to explore Haneda Airport.
