Rumor Mill: $100 Xbox 360 Price Cut

Word on the street (and by street, I mean the Internet – who ever goes outside anymore?) has it that Microsoft will be slashing the Xbox 360 price by up to $100. Due to some price negotiations between the big M and their manufacturers, cheaper parts could make it all possible.

Of course, it’s all speculation for the moment, though it would make the Xbox 360 all that more appealing come this Christmas season.

Erm… don’t they lose money on the xbox360? I thought I read they paid more in parts alone than what they’re selling it, and are making up for it with the profit on the games?

Indeed. I really think this has a lot to do with the Wii coming out. Microsoft held the monopoly for as long as it could. Le sigh.

How much of this do you think is due to the upcoming release of the Wii?

The cynical side of me says the “price negotiations” actually happened pre release of the XBox, but Microsoft keep the price up whilst they can to increase everyones profits.

All consoles prices fall eventually, and it’s just a case of how long the manufacturer and sellers can keep the price and profits up.

    Gotta love capitalism.
