RSS Advertising

RSS AdvertisingOne of the things I love about RSS is that it’s simple, clean and quick. I dont really care if there’s advertising in a feed (or on a site), as long as it’s relevant and the content is good! Size and relevancy are very important, so don’t create ads that oversize the content…

A few weeks ago I read a post about FeedSky (Chinese Feedburner), this company enables users to add advertising of Joyo in their feeds, and get revenue sharing when ads are clicked by readers. It is the first attempt in China to monetize RSS feeds.

You also wanna monetize your RSS feed? There are a few companies that provide RSS ads, these are the ones I know:

  • The Yahoo Publisher Network has added support for ads in RSS feeds. If you are a YPN beta user, you can include ads within your full post RSS feed;
  • The FeedBurner Ad Network (FAN) gives you the opportunity to monetize content. Feedburner also lets you insert an Amazon Associate ID in your feeds;
  • Pheedo offers RSS ads that appear on your weblog and in your feeds;
  • Google AdSense for feeds beta (apply);
  • Kanoodle delivers advertising in RSS (sponsored links);
  • Q-Ads (AKA Adgenta) offers a unique way for you to embed ads anywhere you can place a picture – in your blog post, on your website and in your RSS feed.
  • Did I miss anyone? Please let me know…
    And what happened to hot start-up rssads.com?

    Anyway, a new study from PQMedia expects RSS advertising to gain popularlity quickly. RSS advertising, non-existent until mid-2005, generated spending of $650,000 in 2005, but will be the fastest growing segment over the next five years!
