Ode to the Palm Centro

It was only a few short weeks ago that I caved in to iPhone pressure and bought the damn thing, and don’t get me wrong, I love it, and I’m happy I switched. But I do have a soft spot in my hear for my old phone, the happy-go-lucky little Palm Centro. It’s significantly smaller than the iPhone, and less clunky, particularly when you factor in the Otter casing I’ve got going on. It also has a lot of other things going for it.

Like the keyboard with actual buttons, that was kind of nice, although I am getting used to the screen-keyboard of the iPhone. But it’s the hot buttons that I really miss. The one-button access to my email or the web. It takes a squeeze, a slide, and a tap to get me to the same place on the iPhone.

But there are drawbacks, too. Very few Apps. Even the Twitter and Facebook Apps are almost completely useless. And the touchscreen sucks, it really does. Who can be bothered with a stylus? It’s just another thing to lose.

Like I said, I’m happy I switched, but if you have a service provider other than AT&T, I highly recommend the Palm Centro. Learn more about the Centro.
