Nokia iPhone Clone Concept

This is a photo of the video presentation showing how the click wheel works around the “one touch” button for the new Nokia UI.

It is day two at the Nokia Go Play event and I’d like to backtrack to yesterday’s presentation on the new “iPhone-ish” concept phone of Nokia. The new concept will feature the following perks from the video presentation:

  • portrait and landscape design depending on how you tilt the screen
  • enhanced user interface screen built over S60 (acessible by a one touch button, similar to how the N95 has an alternative view when on landscape mode)
  • single button touch capability for the UI surrounded by a click wheel for browsing through files
  • you can scroll through a “cover flow” like interface with photos using your thumb (this actually might be a presentation hype because as I observed the video, there actually may be a slider hardware button similar to that present in the 5610 XpressMusic phone.)

    Introducing the “Nokia iPhone” clone?

is the new “iPhone like” Nseries concept phone really what it is? Well, it depends on how good the integration is with the S60 platform. From what I’ve been seeing, Nokia still wants to run S60 across the board with a revamped UI “design hack” that you may or may not want to use. One thing’s for sure – good times ahead for consumers!

Note: In an interview with Nokia representatives, they mentioned that the video presentation was a concept video of where they want to be headed and it does not represent an actual Nokia product as of late.
