When YouTubers first uncovered lonelygirl15 as a hoax, I wished death upon her. Looks like it worked. Bree, the titular character of the popular interactive fiction series, dies as a cult harvests her special life-giving blood in the first season finale. The story will continue as the cult hunts down other girls like Bree. You can see where this is going: multiple fictional vlog tie-ins, a format impossible on linear TV programming.
That the death of an online video character would hit the The Washington Post bodes well for the future of independent online video fiction. Looks I wished for the right thing.

Since LonelyGirl has transformed from weblog to soap opera, I’d say there’s a 35% chance she’ll come back to life. Unless her agents have decided to shop her to something bigger.
