HTC Inspire 4G Review – iPhone Killer?

When it comes to smartphones, I’ve never liked anything nearly as much as an iPhone. However, I have now found something just as good — maybe even better — the HTC Inspire 4G powered by AT&T. For how I use my smartphone, the HTC Inspire 4G is simply perfect. Here are the pros and cons of the HTC Inspire 4G smartphone:

PROS

Build
The HTC Inspire 4G has a very sturdy build. It’s made with aluminum and has a sleek look. Unlike the iPhone, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to shatter if you drop it.

Screen
The screen is huge. The colors are bright. The touchscreen is sensitive (but not too sensitive) and works as it should.

Speed
When you are flipping back and forth through apps, the internet and other phone features, there’s virtually no loading time. Everything is blazing fast!

Camera
The camera takes spectacular pictures. The flash is powerful. Basically, the pictures you take with the HTC Inspire 4G are as good as pictures you can take with a regular digital camera.

CONS

Size
Make no mistake, this phone is big. If you are used to a tiny phone, then you might be bothered that it’s not a very good fit in your pocket. That said, if it were any smaller, the screen wouldn’t be as spectacular.

Headphone Jack Location
The headphone jack location is on the bottom of the phone. That, honestly, is a bit annoying. However, the speakers are good enough on the phone that headphones are rarely necessary.

Battery Life
Be prepared to use your charger because the battery life is relatively short compared to other smart phones (up to six hours of talk time). However, there’s really no reason why you can’t keep your phone charged.

Overall, you can’t really beat this phone at it’s price point ($99.99 with a contract). Learn more about the HTC Inspire 4G Android 2.2 Smartphone at att.com.

How are iphones bad or going to go bust? If it breaks cos you drop it, isnt that kinda your fault for dropping it? The fact is iPhones are easier than other smart phones such as HTC which are too complicated compared with others. To add, if five of your iphones break, and my one has lasted me 3 years… who’s the common denomenator? You! So you can’t really blame a company for you wrongly using, damaging or dropping your phone…

    1) iPhones should be compared to other (better) phones on the market, not the other way around. (they are so ugly it makes me sick)
    2) first came the iPad
    3) second, the iPon
    4) third, the iSuck – covering every single apple product I have had to repair at my pc repair shop. (where the only PCs I work on are the ones I custom build)
of course, apple lovers are such fanatical devotees they will likely consider my writ blasphemy!
Go ahead. Walk into an apple store and just HINT at someone there that Ubuntu, Linux, Homebrew or even Windows.. or (if you wanna confuse them, as they won’t know what you’re talking about) DSL (Damn Small Linux) is a better, faster easier to use and infinitely more stable operating system than their beloved apple. Just if you do.. wear full plate mail or a shark suit as you’re likely to be attacked. I’m not kidding.
No, seriously. I’m not joking here.
The pity is that apple’s fanatics wont even admit that apple is going bye-bye. (yes, its true. drink the coolaid and post that on your facebook)
Call a tech support company. Go ahead. Any. Tell them you have any PC: Alienware, Dell, HP, IBM, Acer, Compaq.. (I could go on for a long time here..)
    they’ll try to help you.
Tell ‘em you have a mac:
They’ll transfer you to a company they outsource to that fixes macs,
or they plain wont be able to help you.
So thus: I say in the safety of anonymity: I came here following a picture of a translucent phone and wound up seeing the iPhone mentioned: screw you, apple, and your supporters.
In summary: Save yourself the headache, buy a PC.

(the only issue with PCs is that you have to know what you’re doing, and they’re highly upgradeable – unlike macs where you have to buy a new one. Macs are like the kids in your special ed room in primary school. Simple. built for simple minded individuals.)
    Thanks for reading!

love the reaction from all the iNerds when somebody points out the obvious… ‘iPhones suck huge hairy ass !!’ i know because i’ve owned / own every single one – including iphone 4 – also sucks !! big time.. yeah, jailbreak n do this n do that but an iphone is rubbish & i reckon they’ll be going the same way as nokia soon enough… down the toilet… lmao.. seriously though.. ive owned 5 htc phones & only one of them let me down (after i’d dropped it about a dozen times !!). im currently using a desire hd with custom android and i have an iphone 4 in the kitchen draw… why do you think that is ?! oh & for the blackberry fanboys.. i’ve also got a few of them in the draw.. including their last 2 model which i gave up on after a month each.. also rubbish.. you see when moneys no object you eventually find the best & i can tell you it may not be htc but it certainly is NOT iphone, blackberry or nokia.. my advice here, especially if you’re strapped for cash.. be sensible & don’t be a sheep.. buy yourself the best android handset you can get with the least amount of money & you wont be dissappointed.. by all means by an htc.. but the offerings of lg, samsung and the likes are all pretty similar & most of them have the same guts inside anyway… lol.. has that stirred this little hornet nest up enough..?!

I had the htc inspire 4g it was not all that great. I had it for about three weeks and I dropped it once and the camera lens cracked and the aluminum Body easily scratches. It does have a big screen and cool widgets.I give it that. But the phone kept freezing up and I had to constantly restart phone. Another thing I didn’t like about the phone is that it didn’t have the dual camera for apps that are like FaceTime. I was not able to download netflix app either for this type of phone. Don’t get me wrong htc phones are really good. If people like the htc phones my suggestion is to et the htc evo 4g if you like to use apps like tango and Netflix. As for the iPhone 4 I guess the only bad thing is that there isn’t adobe flash player which can make it difficult to watch some videos on different sites.

I have the HTC EVO- the same thing honestly- and I prefer it over the iphone mainly because I enjoy the android platform better. Much more open for developing. I wouldn’t call it a killer, but definitely a competitor. And the EVO looks a lot less like a brick than this inspire, much sleeker; plus the headphone jack IS on top. Battery life has the same issues, but its not a huge problem since every phone now-a-days uses a usb interface. Also I like that my evo has a mini-HD jack to hook up to displays. Overall it is the best phone I have had yet, though I’m sure there are better choices out there.

Even if your i phone has been jailbreaked, the customization and freedom is still extremely limited compared to android phones. Ex. Widgets. Unless all you know about is installing apps and no extra battery and memory card slot, you will be better of w/o this phone but if you want more customization, and freedom with YOUR PHONE, then give this phone a try. Sure you look at the design at first but based on my experience, after a month or two, your eyes will be looking mostly at the screen and what’s in it everytime you unlock it ;) With an android powered phone, it’s like having a new phone again and again.

For me, i prefer HTC and Sony made android phones.

    Omg iPhone killer?!!???!!!!?????!!!!!!???????!!!!!!!!

  17. By john

There can’t be an iphone killer for two reasons. 1. the iphone was never that great. It has never done anything that the last 5 phones over the last 7 years that my windows or andriod phones could do. 2. there isn’t anything different. Meaning.. if you like android there are 1000 phones to choose from. If you like windows there are 100′s of phones to choose from. if you like apple there is 1 phone to choose from. and counting the first, second, third and fourth as 4 different phones doesn’t count. 1 you can’t choose different designs. 2 you can’t choose different apps. if you like android you have dozens of music apps to choose from. if you use apple there is only 1. granted.. itunes is good… but IF i wanted something different there is no choice.

    • By lawl

You cant choose different apps on iphone? i suppose you never herd of jail breaking.

    • By Jonathan

@lawl, Fine, you can’t choose different apps without voiding your warranty.

I’m sorry, but HTC phones are mad ugly phones…they just don’t know how to design. It seems like they have come out of some elementary school junk yard…

I thought the Droid Mezi’s and the announced 2.0 were already the iPhone killer. But this would definitely work. Maybe even overkill? we’ll have to see what iPhone release in a few months.
