Because of the busy schedule I have lots of backlog of tech magazines to read and one of them is my Wired subscription. This morning I managed to pick up my August (can you imagine that, its already October!) Wired magazine and was reading the article which discuss how much time you spend in front of a screen. The time management allocation read something like: reading 1.5 hours on traditional media, .75 hour on twitter, 1 hour on Wii Fit, 1.25 hour social networking, 1 hour on aggregators, 1 hour podcast, 1 hour online video, 1.5 hours dvr/tv which translates to around 9 hours on the screen.

Oh my gosh, now I realized why I don’t have much time to do for the day especially when I spend 12 – 14 hours in the office for my day job and cramp all the things mentioned by Wired at night. What should I do? Should I give up my day job and focus on professional blogging instead? In this way I get to do all the stuff wired has mentioned and still keep a living. How about if I manage my online activity and just stick to blogging and a minutes in farmville on Facebook.
The notes of Wired was interesting and just goes to see how much online media and online activities has taken over the lives of many individuals. In my office as an example, instead of people planning for a night out on friday, everyone wants to go home and play Operation 7, or discuss what’s the next game they are playing collectively in Facebook.
Whatever your lifestyle is, I would suggest to take a hard look at how you spend your time and see where you can make sacrifices, go out on the real world and interact with people face to face. Instead of doing all your exercise work in Wii, why not go to the gym instead?
