Not knowing where to begin, you might as well look for possible venues of help. One example could be BeginLinux.com. It has a community blog where you could read different kinds of tips for desktop Linux usage as well as Linux administration. If you are mainly wondering about Linux desktop news and information on Linux distro releases, then head on to their blog which is hosted on WordPress.com, called Begin Linux Blog, of course. That blog has a lot of screenshots of various Linux distros as well as articles which are informative enough.
BeginLinux also offers books and training. If you check out their blog on WordPress.com, you could see that the sidebar has “Linux Specials” and if you have been thinking about getting a manual, they have some affordables ones over there. Though I have yet to see the quality of their manuals. If it’s not for you, maybe you could give one as a gift to a friend that you think is in need of any of those materials. As for training, they have self-directed training as well as live training and video training. Those who prefer interacting with an instructor could opt to get live training. However, the courses there are mainly for Linux administration, not desktop Linux usage. Video training is available for users who are new Ubuntu, Linux Mint, gOS and Fedora.
If you’re not yet sure whether to avail of their training material or training, you could always subscribe to their newsletter to find out if there’s something that they offer that’s worth looking at. You could also follow them on twitter.com/beginlinux. And you could always sign up for their BeginLinux forums and begin interacting with other members of their online community.
Begin Linux might not be the most comprehensive site there is but then again there are so many things about Linux. At least you have something to begin with and if ever, there’s an online community you could begin to join and interact with.
