If you’ve been frustrated with what you can do with OpenOffice.org, then you’re probably looking for more. And that’s what Go-oo can help you with. Go-oo is OpenOffice.org with much much more! It bundles some features which lets you work better with files made with Microsoft Office and WordPerfect too. How’s that for compatibility?
So let’s have a quick listing of what Go-oo offers us:
- Better interoperability with Excel.
- VBA support – just in case you do need it for certain things to improve your productivity and workflow.
- Support for files made in MS Works.
- Lotus Word Pro import – in case that is what you use, instead of MS Office.
- Support for multimedia, via Gstreamer.
- You could have it running in the background via Unix systray quickstarter.
There’s a whole lot more in store for those who want to check out Go-oo like additional extensions. It’s really nifty. And some distros actually have patches from Go-oo instead of the plain OpenOffice.org. Some of these distros include Debian, Ubuntu, Mandriva and Open SUSE.
The Go-oo development team has a blog aggregator and it’s really awesome to see what they’re up to. A particularly interesting blog entry discusses justifying text, especially those mixing Asian text with Latin text. So do you think you can just live with plain OpenOffice.org after hearing about Go-oo? I don’t think so. ;) You will want to keep on using this especially if you are working in an office which uses MS Office, Word Perfect and stuff like that too. It’s a practical and convenient thing after all. Many people will definitely make use of this awesome application and find it neat. I’d make sure to let my co-workers know about this too so that they could see, feel and experience the difference. I’ve heard complaints about OpenOffice.org and how many issues they’ve been having when it comes to interoperability. With an awesome team behind Go-oo, things are looking brighter. :)

OK, I agreed to take the survey which pops up on first arrival to your site. The app WOULD NOT PROGRESS past step two. Not your fault, but you might want to notify crowdscience.com.
