The Bump app for iPhone struck me as totally genius when I heard about it. I mean, transferring all of your contact information to someone simply by rubbing your phone against theirs seems totally future perfect, right? Right. If only it were that simple.
I mean, the Bump interface is actually quite straightforward. Once your figure out that the “contact” the app is initially looking for is you, it’s really easy to input your information. And if your friend has Bump on their iPhone, it’s really easy to transfer that information. The problem is that something seems to happen in that transfer that doesn’t quite work out.
The Bump can’t seem to differentiate between mobile and non-mobile numbers, despite the fact that it has separate entry boxes for each. I bumped with a girl the other day (ha!) and then when I tried to text her, I got an invalid number error because my phone was trying to text her house. Boo. Once Bump gets these little glitches out, though, I think it will become a totally indispensible app. You can learn more about Bump on their website.
