We may say that this is an ambitious proposal but is actually a brilliant idea, I may say. Voxbone SA co-founder and CEO Rodrigue Ullens presented something great during the recently held eComm2008 (Emerging Communications) Conference; that is having all VoIP users a universal identity by offering a “country code”. Having this so called country country, VoIP users is now treated as a country having the proposed 883 number to use. They persuaded the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) to design this number for all VoIP users.
883 will be just like the country codes you append when dialing overseas call. Like if you call to US, you append 1 to its phone number (country code + area code + phone number) – similar to this. If implemented, they will call this number iNum, which will be at leasts 12 numbers.
Well, we will have to wait until the implementation of this idea. Don’t be surprised when you call your Skype buddy having the 883 number.
