5 ways to take better camphone pics

“It should come as no surprise. We tend to carry our Smartphones around with us everywhere. If you happen to find yourself standing behind Elvis in line at a fast-food restaurant, you won’t have time to fetch and set up your dedicated camera.”Kevin Ebi

Freelance writer Kevin Ebi has a piece up on the Windows Mobile site on how to take photos with your cameraphone. Though most of what he suggests are things we already know (like tuning your lens to super fine quality), he also implies making judgement only after you’ve transferred images to your computer. If you’re mobile, then use a laptop. The results can usualy be disheartening if what you see on your phone looks very noisy or grainy on your computer screen.

Two simple things you can also consider are lighting and framing. In my experience of taking photos with a phone, never even attempt taking with zero to low light unless you want to do creative photography with a cigarette lighter. With regards to framing, since the phone’s digital zoom is there for “formalities sake,” don’t bother using it. Thus, learn to take good close up shots. This means paying close attention to a subject’s detail – highlighting just one aspect of it, and not the whole thing. You can highlight patterns, colors, or texture, for starters.
