“Wolverine” on DVD and Blu-ray

As of today, you can pick up a copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Blu-ray or DVD.

Fans of the film series will know that Hugh Jackman returns in the title role. The plot unfolds about 17 years before the X-Men trilogy begins and tells the story of how Wolverine came to be involved with the Weapon X program and provides a background into his relationship with his half-brother, Victor Creed/Sabertooth, who is played by Liev Schreiber (excellent choice, in my opinion!).

I didn’t see the film at the theater (and I didn’t watch any of those leaked copies that enraged Jackman so much) so I’m looking forward to seeing Wolverine interact with Sabertooth as well as Colonel William Stryker. I heard that Ryan Reynolds puts out a decent performance but I’m not surprised since I really enjoyed him in Blade Trinity and I’m guessing that this is a similar type of role.

“Wolverine” Sequel Already in Planning

A sequel to the hugely successful X-Men Origins: Wolverine is already in the works and I cannot say that I’m at all surprised. According to Variety, the second movie would focus on “the samurai storyline originated in the comic series, and whose Japanese locale was teased after the film’s final credits.”

There is no writer or real details about the movie but that hasn’t stopped it from already creating a good amount of buzz. At this point, the movie could probably be about Wolverine running a daycare center and it would still do well.

Now In Theaters: “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”

The highly anticipated X-Men Origins: Wolverine is now in theaters and I’m sure it’s going to easily win this weekend’s box-office race. Unfortunately, star Hugh Jackman was reportedly “heartbroken” when the movie was leaked online because he had put so much effort into making the film. In the end, I don’t think it’s going to matter too much in sales because everyone that I know has been talking about seeing this tonight. It’s going to be huge!

The film takes place about 20 years before the X-Men trilogy and focuses on Wolverine’s violent past and his relationship with his half-brother, Victor Creed/Sabertooth (Liev Schreiber). Of course, we’ll learn how he ended up in the Weapon X program. I’m excited about the cast because I think Schreiber is an excellent pick and I’m looking forward to seeing Ryan Reynolds.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Demo on Xbox 360

The demo for the new game, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, will be released on May 1, 2009 to coincide with the theatrical release of the movie of the same name.

Anticipating a high demand, the game will be released on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, Wii and PlayStation Portable but there will be differences among the formats. Most notably, the version released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC will be the ‘Uncaged Edition” which will contain more violence and blood.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine plot will be based on the storyline from the movie and the Wolverine backstory. If you’ve ever seen an X-Men movie or played a game with Wolverine in it, you will know that his primary weapons are his razor sharp claws, feral instincts and mutant regeneration powers.

I plan to download it as soon as it is available since I’ve already heard that the full game is going to be excellent.

It sure is a slow news day, but with the lightly falling snow it makes it the perfect day to squeeze in a little gaming. Me? I’m hoping to get some quality time with Persona 4 later in the day. Now, on to the headlines.

OK, well it’s official now, Street Fighter II costumes are coming to LittleBigPlanet this week. Get ready to jump around as Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, and Zangief.
Reports are claiming that Sony has cut 8,000 jobs, and that the games division is going to put under the microscope very soon.
Activision has revealed a new game based on the upcoming film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and it will be coming to all 3 Sony platforms: the PSP, PS2, and PS3.
Midnight Club: Los Angeles is getting patched, with a new difficulty level for beginners.
