Gillian Anderson Ready For More “X-Files”

Gillian Anderson has confirmed that she’s willing to return to the role of Dana Scully if the third X-Files movie gets the green light. I am an extreme fan of the show and I was really excited when X-Files: I Want to Believe was released last year but I was extremely let down by the poor plot so I’m hoping that if they do add on to the franchise, they go back to the original mytharc since I think that’s what the fans want.

The chemistry between Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully was still there and it was great to see them sorta cohabitating and being a strained couple with Mulder hiding out in a cabin in the middle of nowhere but I wanted a meatier story here. I want to know what happened to their son, William. Did his powers really go away? Is his adoptive home a good one? Was he really able to escape the attention of the government? So many questions, ZERO answers from this last movie and it felt ridiculous that they didn’t mention any of it!

Yes, I know that there were “Monster of the Week” episodes on the original show but this last movie didn’t even live up to one of those! It was awful.

So now that I’ve ranted a bit, here’s what Gillian had to say: “Of course I would accept an offer to appear in a new ‘X-Files’ movie. There isn’t any reason not to do it. I feel a commitment to that group of people I worked with and we still enjoy doing it. There is no reason not to come together and do it again. If they can pull it off, we’ll find a reason to make it.”

Gillian said that filming would probably begin in 2012 (why so long?!).
