The movie grossed $3.6 million in its first five days, which set the record for the biggest international gross. The $570,000 made on the Wednesday opening was also an international record. A third record was set when “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: An IMAX 3D Experience” grossed $875,000 in a single day.

Said Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, Warner Bros. Pictures Internationals’ President: “Warner Bros. is thrilled with the opening weekend numbers and setting a new IMAX international record. These results are a testament to the long and flourishing partnership we have had with IMAX, with Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince marking the 19th feature title our companies have released together.”

From July 15th to July 19th, the movie was available in 62 IMAX theaters around the world — including theaters in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. On July 29th, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: An IMAX 3D Experience” will be available in more than 220 IMAX theatres.
