The cast is beginning to take shape.  Paul Wesley (Army Wives) and Ian Somerhalder (Lost) will take on the roles of Stefan and Damon Salvatore (respectively), a pair of vampire brothers who share a common love interest, Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev).

Of course, the story wouldn’t be interesting if there wasn’t a little “good vs. evil” involved.  Stefan is the good brother who is not only “epically beautiful” but has a deep connection with Elena.  His brother, Damon, on the other hand, can turn into your worst nightmare in the blink of an eye.

It sounds like it could be good if it’s done right.  The Twilight movie is an example of what a low-budget and strange casting can do to ruin a perfectly good storyline.  I hope they take this seriously, especially since many people will not know that these books came out first and could be inclined to dismiss it as a “copycat.”
