Pre-order “Star Trek Online”

I love Star Trek. I don’t care what anyone thinks of me.  I collect whatever I can (my family gave me replicas of the U.S.S. Enterprise and the Transporter Room for Christmas) so if you’re anything like me, you might want to pre-order Star Trek Online which will be released on February 2, 2010.

The universe is massive in this multiplayer online game.  You can play as the captain of a Federation starship or a Klingon Warlord.  It’s also pretty cool… More »

“Star Trek” Most Pirated Movie of 2009

“Star Trek” Most Pirated Movie of 2009

According to TorrentFreak, Star Trek was the most pirated movie to be downloaded off the internet in 2009 – 10.9 million times from BitTorrent.  That’s insane!  I’m not surprised, though.  I know a lot of people who did it, especially since many people wanted to see it but it was right when the H1N1 outbreak began and people were afraid to go to the theater.

That’s a huge increase over last year’s most downloaded title – The Dark Knight – which… More »

“Star Trek” on DVD and Blu-ray

“Star Trek” on DVD and Blu-ray

The newest instalment of Star Trek was released on DVD and Blu-ray this week and I immediately picked up a copy.  Being a huge Trekkie, I was really worried when they decided to go back and start the series from before Kirk was the captain of the Starship Enterprise. I was so pleasantly surprised by what J.J. Abrams did with the characters and storyline.

Not everyone in my life shares my passion for Star Trek so I thought it was great… More »

Though fans originally were anticipating what was supposed to be a summer of 2011 release date for the Star Trek sequel, plans have now been changed. Producer of the films, J. J. Abrams told SCI FI Wire that we should now be expecting the film to be released in 2012.

Did you love Star Trek as much as I did?  If so, you might be interested in pre-ordering a copy of the film, which comes out on Blu-ray and DVD on November 17, 2009.

New International Star Trek Posters

New International Star Trek Posters

A new batch of posters for the upcoming Star Trek film have surfaced and they haven’t done much to quell my worries about the film.  Still it’s nice to see them and get an idea of how the movie is being marketed around the world.   I can’t say that I know which country each of these is associated with so it’s hard for me to understand the logic (or lack thereof – sorry Spock!).  I get the ones that feature… More »

Re:Retro viewer: That's not Star Trek!

And, yes, I’ll be the first to admit that the video I posted with the article, Woot! Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the Vectrex isn’t, well, Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the Vectrex Arcade System. It’s actually a messed up version of Scramble.

Here’s a video of Scramble that YouTube user tr0d took from the series How to Beat Home Video Games:

Okay. Now that the mix up has been cleared, I’d like to thank Chris Herr for the heads… More »

Woot! Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the Vectrex

Woot! Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the Vectrex

Being a Trekkie, or Trekker, as my good friend Filemon is wont to point out, anything that has something to do with Star Trek piques my interest. Now couple this interest with video games, then you’ve got an explosive combination.

Speaking of explosive, this video I found on YouTube totally blew me away:

As you may have already surmised from the title, the video features the classic game Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the Vectrex.

The Vectrex? Oh, yeah, you might not… More »
