Elder statesmen Michael Davis was also a bracelet winner, taking the $1,000 Seniors World Championship for $437,358.

As the WSOP winds down, heads will now tun to the $50,000 Horse event which Scotty Nguyen embarrassingly but entertainingly won last year.

Here is the video of shame for Scotty’s legacy. He has since apologized and acknowledged that he drank too much.

As bad as he acted and as much as I am for regular behavior at the poker tables, I’m willing to let it go. I think Scotty is generally a good guy but his flaw is trying to act too flamboyant. Once the overflow liquor got in him, he lost control and you saw the result.

Can’t wait to see this year’s Horse.

I know who he is. You know who he is. But does he play good poker? I suspect he does since he is coined a poker pro, but from the clips I’ve seen on tv he’s more “chark” than he is shark. In the dated clip below, Scotty Nguyen – who yearns for the attention of parsed crowds all over casino floors – bluffs Brenes off a decent hand and then makes sure to soak up all the glory he possibly can out of his 83 by showing everyone.

If you’re Brenes here, you probably let this one go unless you have a good beat on Scotty. A10 gets squashed by a lot of hands and as Norman Chad announced was only a 2-1 favorite over Scotty’s rags. 2-1 is a decent advantage, but to commit a good portion of your chips with the hand against a person who just reraised you won’t end up well most of the time.

I ask you who have read this blog, is Humberto good in your opinion? I don’t have anything wrong with his laydown here and I really am curious as he’s one of those guys that has had a lot of camera time, but I haven’t seen him materialize a lot of strong plays.

For today, I scrounged up a nice assortment of poker clips from YouTube.

This video is from the infamous tournament of champions where Annie Duke took over Phil Hellmuth. The clip exemplifies how good Annie was running. I thought Phil played his cards with a lot of discipline, but in the end Annie caught the kitchen sink and Hellmuth’s cards never materialized. Phil ranted about this one for a long time and he was right in the sense Annie caught a lot of cards, but she still won so you can’t take that away.

This next clip is when Scotty Nguyen was poised to take down the 2007 WSOP. Here, he doubled up through Phillip Hilm, but later Hilm sent him packing. I think Scotty will regret his reckless play in the final moments of the tournament forever. He had a path to the championship all laid out. He should have stopped drinking and taking the game so personal.

I know I’ve posted this one before but it’s worth posting again. Yet another example of Scotty Nguyen losing control at the poker table. However, he wont regret his HORSE championship play as it didn’t cost him any poker accolades. The event was embarrassing for poker though.
