Rob Thomas broke away from Matchbox Twenty and had huge success with his first solo album ,…Something to Be, which entered Billboard’s Top 200 list at #1. It’s a great accomplishment since it was the first time a male artist from a rock and/or pop group had debuted at number one with his first solo album. It included that big hit “Lonely No More” (I still sing that all the time!) and really solidified his place as a singular artist.

Rob Thomas has released his first single from his solo album Cradle Songs which is scheduled for a June 30, 2009 release. The song “Her Diamonds” has been released exclusively on Billboard.com (listen to it here). I am not sure what to make of the song. NASCAR had its year end awards shindig in New York this past weekend, and it made folks wonder if perhaps New York could handle a race there every year. Personally I don’t see why not, although Jimmie Johnson did come up with a good point:
