If you’ve followed the careers of brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher you won’t be surprised by this bit of news but Noel has left their band, Oasis, after a nasty backstage brawl with his brother in Paris this past Friday.

The following statement then appeared on the band’s website: “to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan. It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight … I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Back in May, I wrote a post about Noel basically warning fans not to expect any new music from Oasis and he had a quote that has stuck in my mind over these last few months: “He’s never seen my little lad (Noel’s son with his partner, Sara MacDonald), just pictures. To a stranger it sounds ludicrous, but you wouldn’t have him in the house if he spoke to you the way he speaks to me and my family. He’s rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”

Well, hopefully this will be the start of something good for both of the Gallaghers. Maybe Liam will stop being so angry. Sometimes people need others to walk away from them in order to realize how bad they are behaving. I’m hoping that Noel finds some peace and puts out some of his own music. It’s sad that they split up but I think it’s for the best.

I can remember when Oasis released their album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? back in 1995. Of course, the huge hit was “Wonderwall” which I still hear a lot of to this day, 14 years later, but there were also some other great tracks including “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Champagne Supernova.”

The album was Oasis’ best effort since it stayed at #1 on the UK charts for 10 weeks and reached #4 in the United States. It has sold more than 18 million copies worldwide, making it the third best-selling album in UK chart history!

The (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? 2 LP Vinyl set was released yesterday so any of you who have been waiting to have this on vinyl might want to check this out.

In terms of new stuff for the band, I recently wrote about an interview with Noel Gallagher and he said that it could take a very, very long time before Oasis releases any more music. Noel said that he might focus on his own solo career for now since he and his brother, Liam Gallagher, are so estranged that Liam hasn’t even met Noel’s son. Wow. In the meantime, you can still include their classic stuff!

If you love British band, Oasis, you might be waiting a long time before you hear any new music. Noel Gallagher revealed in an interview with Q that, after the band finishes the tour for their current album, Dig Out Your Soul, he may focus on releasing a solo album. Apparently, the singer has stockpiled songs since 2000. “I’ve got a lot of songs lying around and some of them are really great,” says Gallagher. “But they’re not Oasis songs. They’re going to sit there and do nothing, so hopefully at the end of this tour I’m going to go and do something for myself.”

I’m not sure I can blame Noel for wanting to branch out on his own and I’m actually a little surprised that it didn’t happen sooner. I know that I would run screaming from the band if Liam Gallagher was my brother. Noel did have some things to say about their relationship: “He’s never seen my little lad (Noel’s son with his partner, Sara MacDonald), just pictures.

Wow… At least he’s being honest. I’ve never understood how they could even be from the same family so, sorry Oasis fans, I hope Noel is successful and leaves Liam in the dust.
