We also told you that Rooney Mara finished third. When I saw that name, I had two questions: Who is Rooney Mara and what am I missing?

Rooney Mara is a 26-year-old actress. She has appeared in a number of movies including A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Social Network. However, her big break was in 2011 when she starred in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Apparently, her role in that movie made her desirable. Having not seen that movie, I can’t comment. That said, by looking at pictures of her, I don’t see the big deal. I surely don’t see why she’s ranked as the third most desirable woman of 2012.

Here are some Rooney Mara pictures. Judge for yourself.

If you are a regular reader here, you probably know two things about me – I love horror movies and I hate most remakes. When it was announced that a new Freddy Krueger had been chosen for a revamped version of Nightmare on Elm Street I almost cried. First of all, I love those movies. Secondly, the original Freddy (brought to like by Robert Englund) was so perfect. He was scary, creepy and alarmingly witty.

image: New Line Cinema

When I started seeing articles popping up all over the internet about the trailer for the upcoming movie, my heart sank. Was I going to be furious like I was over the Halloween remake? I seriously put it off for a couple hours because I wanted to have a good evening.

I’ve watched it – and you should too. I am not sold on the voice Jackie Earl Haley has given to Freddy but that is really the only major complaint I have. Michael Bay might have struck out with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen but it looks like he’s back in top form from this preview.

I’m excited. I’m actually truly excited. It looks accurate. It looks high quality. It looks… freaking amazing. Okay, I shouldn’t get carried away since these things really can go either way but feel free to leave me a comment after you’ve watched the trailer. Does it look good to you?

Twilight star, Kellan Lutz, is set to join the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. I’m still not thrilled that the classic horror flick is being tampered with at all but I’m trying to remain optimistic.

I don’t know much about Dekker or Mara but, despite disliking the film adaptation of Twilight, Lutz (as Emmett Cullen) was one of the few actors I actually enjoyed. He’s also on the new incarnation of 90210, a show that I steadfastly avoid on sheer principle alone, so maybe he’s got a thing for remakes? I heard that he’s supposed to play a high school jock in this Elm Street movie so it shouldn’t be much of a stretch for him.

I don’t know much about the script or anything but I really hope that they actually pull this off rather than ruin it. I did not like the reinvention of Halloween or The Fog and I’ve gotta say that I’m starting to get annoyed with the lack of creativity in Hollywood. Rather than spend millions of dollars remaking movies that don’t need improvement, why not come up with some fresh new ideas?

New Line, in conjunction with Platinum Dunes, is relaunching A Nightmare on Elm Street and I’m really disappointed. They’ve already found a new Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) and, no offence to him, but no one will ever be Robert Englund to me. There are some things that I think should just be left alone and this franchise is one of them. Are we so out of creative ideas that we need to go back and rework classics?

New Line, in conjunction with Platinum Dunes, is relaunching A Nightmare on Elm Street and I’m really disappointed. They’ve already found a new Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) and, no offence to him, but no one will ever be Robert Englund to me. There are some things that I think should just be left alone and this franchise is one of them. Are we so out of creative ideas that we need to go back and rework classics?

In case you lived under a rock during the 1980s and 1990s, the films are about a killer, with blades as fingernails on one hand, who haunts teenagers in their dreams and tries to kill them as they sleep.

The film will be produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. This fact is comforting since Bay seems to be the remake king (The Amityville Horror, Transformers, Friday the 13th) and he’s made some of the movies that I’m only slightly embarrassed for loving (Armageddon).
