The film features newcomer, Eliza Bennett, as Meggie Folchart, a young girl who, along with her father Mo (Fraser), has a gift when it comes to reading stories – they are able to bring the characters in their books to life.

Naturally, this “gift” ends up leading them straight into the path of danger when they accidentally free a villain who could destroy them all.  Meggie and her father must rally (with the help of her aunt and a hero from a book) to stop the evil-doer before it’s too late.

The storyline seems a little lame to me but the cast is strong (along with Fraser, the film stars Paul Bettany, Helen Mirren and Andy Serkis) so it could come out well in the end.

I know that Father’s Day was this past weekend but, if you’d like to celebrate a few days late, this could be a great family film.  Check out the trailer:
