The boys of the Yamaha MotoGP Premier Class team were in Indonesia for a three day period of press conferences, meetings with the public and visiting the sites of Indonesia that were of interest to them. Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi spent the three days having fun, while meeting people and taking a look at some of the Yamaha factories and other infrastructure in Indonesia. Indonesia is actually one of Yamaha’s better and more important markets and this kind of publicity outing is just the thing to improve relations and sales. The boys spent the time in meetings with Yamaha officials when they weren’t talking to fans and looking at the local sites of interest.

Valentino Rossi spent three days in Indonesia with his team mate Jorge Lorenzo

This kind of things is just what the boys need after the tension of their last testing session on their bikes, like they feel tension when their on their bikes. They should take some time to relax and take their mind off of the bikes and the up coming 2010 MotoGP Premier Class season. This kind of thing is going to feel like an old and comfortable hat to a seven time MotoGP Premier Class Champion like Valentino Rossi, Jorge on the other hand will probably be a little more on edge at these kind of affairs as compared to Rossi. This of course could be wrong, but something tells me that not much will phase Rossi. Any man that can get on board a two-wheeled machine and take it around a track at breakneck speed year after year isn’t going to be pressured by much.

Actually, the first time I saw Valentino Rossi in person I found it hard that such a young looking man could be as tough physically and mentally as he obviously is. His face and smile made me think of my little silly little nephew, rather than a man many consider the best sportbike rider in MotoGP history. He seemed to have an inherent calmness about him that I have found in people with an intense confidence and intelligence that allows them to understand the world. He certainly held himself with confidence but I felt no feeling of superiority in the way he held himself, talked or acted. This to me is amazing because having met other celebrities and the way people treat them as gods at times it must be hard to stay human and realistic and he seems to have accomplished this with style and grace as well.

The racers and drivers of the fastest sport on two wheels are on time off, kind of, most are busy traveling around the world to various spots to build support and create more fans for their sport by spending time with the fans. Jorge Lorenzo recently took a trip to Thailand where he was greeted by thousands of fans waiting to get a peak at one of the fastest racers on the planet. He was in Thailand to attend the Yamaha Motor Factory in Bangkok, before taking the time to spend the afternoon at the Yamaha Rider Club in Thailand to build support and spend time with sportbike fans.

The fastest sport on two wheels in on time off

The runner up to Valentino Rossi was greeted by adoring fans that had him smiling and waving to the crowds for quite a few minutes, before he took the time to be greeted by factory President Frank Nagashima and Chief Operating Officer Praphan Phornthanavasat, and then made his way through the factory to talk to the 3000 employees on hand. This was just before he put on a show on his Yamaha YZF-R1 sportbike by taking it out for a few laps and burn a few tire marks in the pavement for his fans. He looked pretty good on the bike after a break that hasn’t seen him get on a bike since his operation in Barcelona on November 16 to take out the plate in his collarbone.

After his run, he took more time to wave and talk to his fans, which is great to see. The fans are the ones that really pay the bills and he obviously knows this and was energetic and loving while walking among the crowds. He’ll be heading over to Indonesia next to entertain his fans and build more support for his sport.

In other news, Dorna Sports has released their calendar for the CEV Buckler 2010 season and it will consist of seven events, including the new venue, Motorland Aragon during the fifth round of the season. The season will start on April 18th in Catalunya, before heading to Albacete, Jerez, Albacete again, Motorland Aragon, Comunitat Valenciana, and lastly Jerez, one last time.
