In the film, Peter (Paul Rudd) asks his girlfriend, Zooey (Rashida Jones) to marry him and, after announcing the great news to his family, the issue of Peter never having a guy friend comes up.  The truth is that Peter has always had female friends and loves movies like The Devil Wears Prada so his younger brother, Robbie (Andy Samberg) tries to give him tips on how to find a male friend.  After some failed attempts (Peter actually ends up sending mixed signals and gets French kissed by a guy who thinks they’ve gone on a date), Peter meets Sydney (Jason Segel) and they hit it off right away and the result looks hilarious!

I’m happy for Rudd who is finally going from the sidekick (like in 40 Year Old Virgin and Role Models) to the leading man and I’m sure he’s going to be great.  To tell the truth, I don’t know why I didn’t see this movie in the theater but I’m definitely going to see it this week!

The DVD comes with the following features: commentary by director John Hamburg and actors Paul Rudd and Jason Segel, a featurette called “The Making of I Love You, Man.” additional scenes (extras, deleted scenes), a gag reel and Easter eggs.  Here’s the trailer:

Hmmm… the plot sounds like, if done properly, there could be some genuinely funny moments.  I liked (but didn’t love) Role Models so I probably will give this a shot and see the movie.  Jason Segal was pretty funny in Forgetting Sarah Marshall so I imagine that he and Rudd could make a good pair.  I haven’t seen Rashida Jones (The Office) in a movie before so it could be interesting to see how the three work together.
