Unfortunately, Heavy Rain didn’t hit the PSN until late in the afternoon/early night. I don’t remember when exactly I finally got to download the demo but I actually got to play the thing around 9pm.

I had read a couple of reviews of Heavy Rain and I was expecting to not like the controls. I was expecting the controls to completely detract from the gameplay. But, I was wrong.

While things were ackward for me at the start – spider monkeying my fingers to hold down triangle, square and circle at the same time was a tad bit challenging – once I got used to how Quantic had set the game up, things got easier and I forgot about what my hands were doing and got sucked into the story.

I will say the controls seemed a bit “mushy” for me but like I’ve said on Twitter [@TasteLikeCrazy], my controller was almost dead when I started the demo so I’m not sure if that was a contributing factor to the pudding controls.

I also had issues with reading any of the text on the screen which made for interesting an interesting gameplay experience. Then again, I am playing on a “regular” TV since we have yet to upgrade to an HD. Just keep that in mind if you’re playing on an older TV.

Heavy Rain is a game I will be getting. It’s beautiful, engrossing and most importantly, it’s story driven. If you read some of the comments left on the videos below, you’ll notice more than a few where people have said Heavy Rain makes them want to buy a PS3. The game really is that impressive.

As an interesting aside, when I played the demo, the hooker/dead kid’s mom got really pissed off at my detective dude and kicked his ass out. SO, it’s pretty cool to be able to watch what would have happened if I hadn’t sucked.
