First my impressions about the event title and invite. “Come See Our Latest Creation” this implies something new so it’s really pointing towards an Apple Tablet. There have been several events in the past where we all anticipated the release of a tablet but it did not come true. Now the title makes it almost a sure thing it’s a new product vs. just a new version of an existing product.

The paint splashes or splatter signifies that it’s something visual. Some will say that an Apple Tablet will be more of like a Kindle on steriods. Meaning a better ebook reader or something to display media on like a bigger portable video device. I think it will be much more. I think the Apple Tablet will be something that will foster people’s creativity. Something where people can draw and write on and create art work. Something like Wacom’s Cintiq only instead of just being a monitor it will have the whole computer inside it. A laptop version of the Cintiq. Sure a lot of current tablets available in the market can do that but we also had a lot of mobile phones before Apple came out with the iPhone. So the interface will definitely be a game changer.

That being said, I believe this device will have a screen that’s not less than 9 inches. Otherwise visually that’s just going to be difficult. Apple will find a way to have the Tablet’s surface give better feedback. Allowing it to be closer to the feel of pen and paper rather than the touch screens we have today.

A lot of people have been saying that this is Apple’s answer to ebooks and ebook readers. I think while it can and will be used to access ebooks, Apple wants to revolutionize books and magazines as a whole. You’ll still have access to written content but I think it will be married with video, audio, etc. Creating a seamless interface between reading and other visual methods of learning. It will stray away from what the Kindle is and do much much more.

Of course multi touch gestures will still play a big part in it. We’ll see some new things related to this.

Will it run iPhone OS 4 as some people have been saying? It probably will. So this event will showcase some new features of the iPhone OS.

Let’s talk about pricing. Apple has always been known to build premium products so this device won’t be cheap. However I don’t think the price will reach MacBook territory. Otherwise that’s just nuts to me. Why pay for something so expensive when you can buy a laptop for the price. There will be a notable exception if the device is so revolutionary that the MacBook can’t mimic what it will be doing. Otherwise I think Apple will price  it between 500-6oo dollars with price increments for higher models.

We’ll soon find out what this device is. Is it really that good that will blow all of our minds when Steve and co. unveil it. Apple fans, myself included have set the bar high for this still mythical device. It surprises me how a company which has yet to announce the device already has competitors for it. Only Apple can create such mass hysteria about something that has yet to see the light of day.

Veering away from tradition of having the events on Tuesdays, Apple’s September music event is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept 9, 2009. The venue is yet to be announced but according to the Digital Daily it’s sure to push through.

Apple’s September event is usually a music centered event. Last year saw the launch of iTunes 8 with the Genius feature, the 4th Gen iPod Nano a.k.a Nanochromatic, the 2nd gen iPod Touch. What will Apple pull out of it’s proverbial magic hat this year and will it’s number 1 magician be the one to perform its tricks?

Rumors are circulating that this year will bring us a new for of “Digital Album” dubbed Cocktail. This is apparently a collaboration between Apple and the music labels to entice more people to buy the whole album rather than just individual songs. This will help music labels make more money with bulk sales rather than just individual songs. The album will include lyrics, notes and photos plus other interactive goodies.

Of course we can’t have a new format without new hardware. Next generation iPod Nanos and iPod Touch are reportedly set to make their debut. With both of them reported to get cameras. There have been leaked photos (true or not) of the iPod Touch with the cameras.

A camera for the iPod Touch would be sweet. I’ve played around with the iPhone 3GS’ photo app and the tap to focus is niiicceee.

While most of us are awaiting the launch or the Apple Tablet/NetBook or whatever you want to call it, don’t hold your breath. The reports say it won’t be coming out this month. It’s more of a 2010 product.

Products are good but what excites me the most is the chance that Steve might actually do the keynote. It’s a good time for him to do this since, one, he’s back at work full time and this will be a good way to show people that he’s back on top. Two, this is a much shorter keynote and should be less stressful than a regular keynote should it should make for a good comeback.

Well, with a little over a couple of weeks till September 9th, Apple hopefuls are now giddy once again. Will it be an early Christmas for us? We’ll see.

Apparently “throwback” means lip hair to the San Francisco 49ers. In their upcoming game against the Redskins this weekend, they will not only wear the old 49er uniforms, but they will also grow mustaches for the game.

A little Ron Burgundy action perhaps?

Personally I love the idea of growing mustaches for a throwback uniform day. If you can’t get into the playoffs the least you can do is get publicity for your team by growing facial hair.

Be sure to mark your calendars for January 17th, boys and girls! That’s the day Danny Bonaduce jumps in the ring (again!) to fight Jose Canseco.

Is there anything better than the world of celebrity wrestling? Seriously, every time I think there’s no way they will get someone to embarass themselves again, I’m proven wrong. Over at Philly.com they say Bonaduce showed up for his first day of work at WYSP last week with “pack of Marlboro reds, an asthma inhaler and Commit lozenges at hand.”

They also said he “smokes five cigarettes sitting up in bed before he gets up in the morning.”

His new girlfriend (cuz you all know he ended up getting divorced after Breaking Bonaduce) is apparently trying to help him to quit. Lucky gal that she is!

Whether Bonaduce quits smoking or not, WHAT is Jose Canseco thinking! Did he NOT see the first round Bonaduce celeb boxing events? Does he not know that Bonaduce boxes for fun and excitement? Did he not see Greg Brady get hammered? Even with the outrageous smoking habit, Bonaduce is one serious badass! And a touch loco besides. I wouldn’t get in the ring with him, would you?

Gavin Rossdale was apparently upset that he didn’t get invited to the Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic and tried to sneak in through the back door. He put on his best cat burglar outfit and busted onto the court.

Celebs were out at Derby Day in Australia on Monday. The race according to wikipedia (and we all know that’s the end all/be all for definitions) is a “race for three-year-old horses, it is raced on a left-handed turf course at a distance of 2500 metres (1.553 miles). It marks the beginning of Melbourne Cup Week with Victoria Derby Day traditionally held on the Saturday prior to Melbourne Cup Day, which is the first Tuesday in November every year.”

Or, in other words, it’s another way for celebs to come out (like Jenna Elfman pictured above) and pretend to like sports.

Carson Kressley was also at the event, but he was too shy to be photographed.
