I have to admit that I didn’t actually watch Eli Stone but when I was sent this DVD of the second season to review, I realized how tragic it is that it’s the final one. The show is clever, funny and unique which is a nice switch during a time when almost every top-rated show on TV is reality-based.

The story follows title character, Eli Stone (Jonny Lee Miller) who is an attorney with a twist – he has a brain aneurysm that causes him to have hallucinations. Eli begins to look at these visions in another light when his acupuncturist suggests that they could be divinely inspired since they often seem to predict the future in some way.

You know another great thing about this show? It’s about something that’s possibly supernatural or extra-sensory but it doesn’t have a cheesy name like The Ghost Whisperer, although Eli Stone wouldn’t have been my first choice. Okay, back to the recap – I just had to throw that in there.

Anyway, Eli Stone: The Complete Second DVD is a great watch and it really makes me sad that I won’t get to see his storyline develop now that I’ve found this show. After an operation removes his aneurysm and frees him of his visions, Eli’s brother, Nate, starts having his own hallucinations. Surprisingly, Eli can make a decision that changes the course of their lives even though it might involve allowing the aneurysm to return.

The second episode gets even more interesting and opens with Katie Holmes (in a guest appearance), singing and dancing in a jazz club and when he later spots her in the crowd at a baseball game, he believes there’s a reason they should meet – it’s sort of fitting since her name is Grace. He convinces her to go on a date with him but she tells him that she’s leaving to work in Africa and that they can’t get too involved. Meanwhile, Eli’s brother reads their late father’s journals which contain pages and pages of predictions, including Eli’s encounter with Grace.

I could go on and on but that would ruin the season for you but, if you haven’t seen this show, I do recommend you see the DVD because it really was good.
