You knew it was coming, right? A company called Aim To Beginn, LLC has developed the “Vick Dog Chew Toy.” The dog toy looks like Michael Vick and is meant to raise awareness for animal abuse. They retail for $7. There is even a Flicker page that shows several dogs with the toy.

Here’s a commercial for the toy:

I hated what Michael Vick did, but I think this might be a bit much. I have a dog. Love dogs! But Michael Vick did his time. He was punished for a crime and did what society wanted him to do. So is it right to make a dog toy after him? Couldn’t we create something else to raise awareness for this issue? What’s your opinion?

On Wednesday Michael Vick is scheduled to be released from the federal pen in Leavenworth, Kansas. Apparently, he’s planning on doing some major physical training as soon as he’s out. The quicker he can get back in NFL-ready shape, the sooner he will be able to get on a team. At least, that’s the plan.

Chip Smith, founder of Competitive Edge Sports in Duluth, says he didn’t really get OUT of NFL shape. He says of Vick, “He’s been doing a lot of running, a lot of cardio work in prison, so he didn’t really lose his conditioning.”

We won’t see him on a team right away, however. Vick still needs to finish serving the final two-months of his sentence at home. In the meantime, Rogert Goodell, NFL commissioner, still has to approve his re-entry back into the league.

Do you think he should come back? What’s your opinion?

There has been some argument about this around the sports locker rooms and armchairs of every Monday morning quarterback out there. Many feel he should never be allowed to play football again. But some people, like me, feel that some team will probably pick him up.

Like the Lions maybe!

Oh, and about that book? He apparently wrote it while in prison, and supposedly is “seeking co-authors and a publisher.” Which begs the question that if he wrote the thing already, why does he need co-authors?

Apparently, Michael Vick already has his next stop in mind. It seems the newly formed United Football League will be welcoming the convicted quarterback when he is released.

Vick will be unable to play in the NFL right away (at least it’s assumed), so this could be a spot for him to show what he still has left for many owners around the league. However, if he’s out of shape and lost a step, he could just be playing football for the last time.

We have plenty of time to wait to see this unfold, since Vick will not be released from prison until 2009.
