<p>The blame for these job losses is being pinned on the fact that fewer people in the United States can afford to go on vacation these days. Disney has found that the global recession has hit their theme park industry harder than expected.</p>
<p>&#8220;These decisions were not made lightly,&#8221; said Tasia Filippatos, a representative of the Walt Disney Company, &#8220;but are essential to maintaining our leadership in family tourism and reflect today&#8217;s economic realities.&#8221;</p>
<p>A small percentage of those Disney employees losing their job are executives who agreed to a buyout package. The vast majority of the rest are reportedly in the managerial department of the various Disney theme parks.</p>
