Jessica Simpson has been on concert for the last several months, and it appears that a few things remain constant from show to show: she forgets the lyrics to her songs (“Come on Over” seems to be the one that she spaces on most), she wears her daisy duke shorts a lot (especially when someone calls her “fat”), and she gushes on and on about Tony Romo.

The thing I have to wonder is, if you’re paying to hear her sing (and yes, people actually do that) are you getting your money’s worth by having her dedicate her famous “You’re My Sunday” to him and then talk about the kind of love they have?

Like last night, for example. Jess was in concert in Salt Lake City and said that “The thing that makes us lucky is being in love…I did find that unexpected kind of love” and then went to say she “developed a crush on Romo after watching him on ESPN.”

I’m sure Romo was thrilled. Along with her fans.

A. She says stupid things on television, be it an interview or, once upon a time, any one of numerous head-scratching moments from “Newlyweds.”

B. She says stupid things during interviews with magazines.

C. She says stupid things during concerts.

D. As if “All of the Above” isn’t the obvious answer.

Yes, the answer is D, but let’s focus on choice C for a moment.

First, she proclaimed her “retirement” from pop concerts during her country debut. A bright and shiny dunce cap in fuchsia goes to anyone who believes that prediction.

Second, in addition to getting cheesier than a Vermont dairy farm during the concert, quarterback Tony Romo‘s squeeze noted how she’s “just like” the rest of us.

We were all over that idiotic remark the other day. Papa Joe Simpson’s oldest meal ticket daughter is not like us (or any non-celeb) for a lot of reasons, and now we can add an extended clothing line and a quarter-billion dollar shoe enterprise to the list.

Here’s what we think: Jessica Simpson’s next venture should be Pepto Bismol knock-offs. Why? To alleviate the nausea induced by those asinine I’m-one-of-you comments. Plus, it would be a hoot-and-a-half to see her do a presser describing Pepto’s active ingredient, bismuth subsalicylate.

Here’s a Jessica Simpson quote from her Saturday night country music concert debut in Wisconsin. Despite our self-proclaimed foodie status, we aren’t able to identify precisely what kind of cheese Simpson employs in this dedication to Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, but a curdled dairy product it is indeed:

“He throws a football and he’s really really good at it. He is my better tomorrow and I wrote this song for him. It’s called You’re My Sunday.”

Speaking of Sundays, we know more than one Dallas fan who hopes Simpson steers clear of Romo on just about every one from September through February.

Yeah! You are just like us, Jess! Except that you:

a) are a millionaire;

b) are dating a millionaire;

c) have lucrative endorsement contracts;

d) have your own clothing and fragrance lines;

e) are launching your own lingerie line;

f) have an agent, personal stylist, personal trainer, personal hairdresser, and personal assistant.

Oh, Jess, and since you’re taking a poll, we judge you by your own words when you grant interview to mags. We read Glamour and Allure (neither of which are tabloids) as well as several entertainment blogs on b5 and elsewhere.

Yesterday the league sponsored a free Bon Jovi concert in Central Park. (Digression: We once saw Bon Jovi at a Miami party but totally blew off ’cause we didn’t want to go all fangirl on him).

People.com reports that 3 Doors Down will provide music to swing by (but not, we presume, swing music) tomorrow night for the does-it-or-doesn’t-it-wreck-your-swing Home Run Derby. On Tuesday, Sheryl Crow will kick things off with the national anthem (take that, Lance and Kate!) and that Josh Groban will sing God Bless America—sorry, Kate Smith—during the seventh-inning stretch.

No word as to whether or not any squirrel-hatted Yankees fans will be there for your viewing pleasure, but it’s worth taking a peek around if you’re in the stands.
